1. How much walking do you do in your daily life?

Speaking Answer:

I actually don’t get to do as much walking as I’d like in my daily life. Most of my day involves sitting at a desk, but I always try to squeeze in a brisk walk around my neighborhood in the evenings to stretch my legs and clear my head.

  • squeeze in (phr.v) /skwiz ɪn/: chen chúc, ép vào; cố gắng tìm thời gian làm gì
  • brisk (adj) /brɪsk/: nhanh nhẹn, lanh lợi (kiểu đi bộ nhanh)
  • clear my head (idiom) /klɪər maɪ hɛd/: làm cho đầu óc thanh thản, minh mẫn

2. Did you walk more when you were at school than now?

Speaking Answer:

Oh, absolutely! Back in my school days, I used to hoof it everywhere – to class, to grab a bite, even just strolling around the campus with friends. Nowadays, with a car at my disposal and a busier schedule, I don’t really get to pound the pavement as much.

  • hoof it (v) /huːf ɪt/: đi bộ, cuốc bộ
  • grab a bite (phr) /ɡræb ə baɪt/: ăn nhanh, ăn vội
  • pound the pavement (idiom) /paʊnd ðə ˈpeɪvmənt/: đi bộ nhiều, đi bộ khắp nơi

3. What places are there to go for a walk near where you live?

Speaking Answer:

Well, I’m lucky enough to have a couple of great spots close by where I can go for a good walk. I often beat a path to the local park to get some fresh air and stretch my legs, and there’s also a lovely lakeside promenade that’s perfect for a leisurely stroll.

  • beat a path to (idiom) /biːt ə pæθ tuː/: thường xuyên đi đến đâu đó
  • promenade (n) /ˌprɑːməˈneɪd/: đường đi dạo, lối đi bộ
  • stroll (n) /stroʊl/: cuộc đi dạo, sự đi dạo

4. Would you ever like to go on a walking holiday?

Speaking Answer:

Oh, I’d absolutely jump at the chance for a walking holiday! There’s nothing quite like hitting the trails and truly soaking up all the breathtaking scenery along the way. It would be a fantastic way to clear my head and stretch my legs.

  • jump at the chance (idiom) /dʒʌmp æt ðə tʃæns/: chớp lấy cơ hội, nắm bắt cơ hội
  • hit the trails (phrasal verb) /hɪt ðə treɪlz/: bắt đầu đi bộ đường dài (thường ở vùng tự nhiên, đồi núi)
  • soak up (phrasal verb) /soʊk ʌp/: tận hưởng, đắm mình vào
